Sanja Plojh
One of the most distinguished classical guitarists of the new generation, Slovenian-born Sanja Plohl has captured audiences with soulful interpretations and “an excellent technique, temperament, refinement and exceptional music maturity” (newspaper Vecer, 2009). Praised by the critics for her outstanding musical expression, Sanja’s long list of international awards includes first prizes at Córdoba Guitar Festival, Ivor Mairants Award (London), Seville International Guitar Competition, L’Arjau competition for all instruments (Barcelona), Festival Guitarmania (Lisbon), competitions “Ciudad de Llerena” (Extremadura) and “Comarca el Condado” (Jaén), as well as the audience awards at the “Miguel Llobet” (Barcelona) and “Luys Milan” (Valencia) competitions. Ms. Plohl’s schedule comprises recitals, chamber music projects, solo appearances with orchestras, masterclasses, as well as television and radio broadcasts. Her extensive repertoire covers music from the Renaissance to the present day and includes thematic recitals of Latin American, Spanish, Catalan, Andalusian and Jewish composers. She also collaborates with composers and has premiered numerous of their new works. Apart from performing, Sanja shares her knowledge and experience in masterclasses, lectures and didactic concerts. Sanja studied under the guidance of such renowned professors as Zoran Dukic, Thomas Offermann and Eliot Fisk. She also took masterclasses with other important personalities of the music world, such as Alvaro Pierri, Àlex Garrobé, Dusan Bogdanovic, Carlo Marchione and Ricardo Gallén, among others. Sanja earned her bachelor’s degree from The Rostock University of Music and Theatre, master’s degree from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and completed a postgraduate programme at University Mozarteum in Salzburg. Her studies were supported by the scholarships of the Slovenian Ministry for Culture, Dutch Government, Soroptimist International, Yehudi Menuhin’s Live music now Foundation, Zois fund, Accademia Chigiana and Música en Compostela.
